Innervation of the hip joint

Innervation of the capsule of the hip joint is derived from the following nerves:

•  Femoral nerve via the nerve to rectus femoris
•  Tibial component of the sciatic nerve via the nerve to quadratus femoris (diagram QF = quadratus femoris )
•  Anterior division of obturator nerve
•  Superior gluteal nerve
